If you're unable to see jobs or shifts in the WorkWhile app, several factors could be affecting visibility. Below are the most common reasons and the steps you can take to resolve each one.
Location Radius
Job opportunities are displayed based on a 75-mile radius from the address saved in your profile. If no jobs are visible, it may be because there's limited availability within this radius.
Update your address in the app if you're willing to travel farther — this expands your search area.
Note: frequent address changes may trigger a temporary account review for verification.
Onboarding and Eligibility
To begin working, you must complete a background check. This is triggered when you attempt to accept your first shift. For driving shifts, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is also required. Shifts won't appear until these steps are finalized.
Make sure you have:
Uploaded all required tax and employment documents (e.g., W-2, I-9)
Completed identity verification and background checks
Entered your banking information and tax elections
Completed your W-2 application in the profile, if applicable
Completed your payment method setup
Employer Demand
Job availability depends on the real-time operational needs of partner companies. If no shifts are visible, there may currently be no open positions in your area. Shifts are posted directly by employers, so there's no guaranteed schedule for new postings, and they're offered first-come, first-served — once claimed, a shift no longer appears in the app.
Profile Eligibility
Your profile details — work experience, skills, and certifications — affect your eligibility for certain shifts. To improve visibility:
Open the WorkWhile app and go to the Me tab
Select Work Profile
Add relevant work experience and certifications (e.g., Food Handlers Card)
Update your Work Preferences to include or exclude specific roles (e.g., hospitality, driving)
Save your changes — this helps WorkWhile's matching algorithm surface opportunities aligned with your skills
Account Status
If your account has been blocked due to employer actions or policy violations, job visibility may be restricted. Check your email for notifications about your account status and follow any instructions provided. Being blocked by one employer does not block you from seeing or accepting shifts from other companies — visibility is based on geography, not employer-specific blocks, so you remain eligible to browse and accept shifts elsewhere. If you believe a block was issued in error, you can submit an appeal to the WorkWhile team.
Notifications
Enable notifications so you're alerted as soon as new shifts are posted:
In the WorkWhile app: go to your Account/Profile tab and ensure notifications are turned on
On Android: Settings > Apps > WorkWhile > Notifications
On iOS: Settings > WorkWhile > Notifications > enable Allow Notifications
Check that Focus or Do Not Disturb modes aren't blocking notifications
Troubleshooting Steps
Check both the "Open" and "More Jobs" tabs for available shifts
Refresh the app, or log out and back in, to reload the job feed
Enable location permissions with Precise Location to improve shift visibility
Reinstall the app to clear the cache if shifts still aren't appearing
Waitlist
After completing at least three shifts on the platform, you gain access to the waitlist feature, letting you join waitlists for full shifts and get notified when a spot opens up.
Job offers appear directly in the WorkWhile app, not via email — keep notifications enabled so you don't miss one.
Know a business that could use flexible talent? Use the "Refer a Business" feature in the app home page to suggest them. If they sign up and post shifts, you'll receive a $500 referral fee.
By keeping your profile complete, enabling notifications, and checking the app regularly, you'll maximize your chances of seeing and claiming available shifts.
