Payments FAQ

When will I get paid?

Written by Jarah Euston

When will my earnings be available?

Earnings for every 1099 shifts you work will be added to your WorkWhile balance 24 hours after the end of the shift. The pending payment on your Pay History will give you an estimate of when you can expect funds from a shift to be available.

Earnings for W-2 shifts are paid differently from 1099 shifts. Earnings for W2 shifts are processed every weekday* (Monday-Friday) and deposited into your account within 24 hours of shift approval or weekly on Monday and direct deposited into your account by EOD Wednesday.

*Qualified W-2 workers can choose between a daily (Monday-Friday) or weekly payroll period. Upon your first W-2 shift, you may be prompted with the option to select your payment period. You can also access and update your selection within the Me section of the App. Unfortunately daily payroll is not currently available for workers with garnishments.

**You may clock in up to 15 minutes prior to your shift start time. Your pay starts when the shift officially begins.

It’s been more than 24 hours. Why aren't my earnings available yet?

If the supervisor asked you to work past the scheduled end time of your shift, they will also need to approve those extra hours through their WorkWhile account before payment can be processed. We will send reminders to the supervisors to ensure they review and approve those extra hours in a timely manner.

Please review the job description carefully as some shifts may have longer review periods, which can delay the payout beyond the standard schedule.

What is the 4-hour minimum pay policy?

  • If you are scheduled to work 4+ hours and end up working less, you will receive a minimum of 4 hours' pay.

  • If you are scheduled for less than 4 hours, the minimum pay policy does not apply, and you will be compensated only for hours worked.

How can I access my earnings?

WorkWhile offers you two payment options:

  1. Instant Pay cash out to an eligible debit card

  2. Via direct deposit to your bank account

Cash Out

You can cash out the funds available on your WorkWhile balance to an eligible debit card at any time. There is no fee for cashing out, but this may change in the future.

Cash outs must be requested through the Home screen of the WorkWhile app (they are not automatic). Funds should arrive on your debit card within 30-90 minutes of requesting the cash out. Please note that prepaid cards (i.e. Netspend) are not supported. You can review all valid instant cash out debit cards using this link.

Weekly Payroll via Direct Deposit

Every Monday, WorkWhile processes a direct deposit payment to your bank account for all funds in your WorkWhile balance that have not already been cashed out. Funds should arrive in your bank account within 1-3 days of the direct deposit transfer.

Payments for W2 shifts are processed every weekday (Monday-Friday) and deposited into your account within 24 hours of shift approval or weekly on Monday and direct deposited into your account by EOD Wednesday.
