What happens if I have to cancel a shift last minute?

At WorkWhile, we show up and do the work. Our clients count on us to show up when and where we say we will. Cancelling with short notice or arriving late to a shift reflects poorly on you and WorkWhile, and prevents someone else from taking the shift.

NO-SHOW POLICY

If you do not show up to a shift you are scheduled to work or cancel a scheduled shift after it has already started, your account will be permanently blocked and you will no longer be eligible to work on the WorkWhile platform. WorkWhile has a zero tolerance policy for no-shows. If your plans change, you must cancel your shift in the WorkWhile app with advanced notice.

3 STRIKES POLICY

Strikes are given when cancelling a shift with less than 24 hours notice. Cancelling with less than 24 hours notice puts our clients and WorkWhile in a tough spot. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will receive a strike.

Your WorkWhile account will be permanently blocked after accruing 3 strikes. You can remove a strike from your record by working 10 shifts without another late cancelation. You can view the number of additional shifts you must work to remove a strike in the Me tab of the WorkWhile app.

CANCELLING DUE TO ILLNESS

The only exception to the late cancellation strike policy is if you are late cancelling due to illness. If you indicate the late cancellation is due to illness, you will complete a health screening questionnaire to assess your risk of infecting others with COVID.

If you pass the screening (no risk of infecting others with COVID), you will still receive a strike but can have it removed from your record by providing a doctor's note within 7 days of missing work. *The doctor’s note needs to address the date for the shift that you did not attend

If you do not pass the screening (potential risk of infecting others with COVID), you will NOT receive a strike but your account will be temporarily suspended. The suspension will be lifted after 5 days or after you have provided the negative results of a PCR COVID test.

ARRIVING LATE FOR A SHIFT

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to a shift, the supervisor in some cases may send you home. If this happens, you will not be paid for the shift. Even if you are running late, you must still show up and clock in to avoid a no-show penalty.

We track your on-time rate in the Me tab of the WorkWhile app. Your on-time rate as well as your star rating both impact the types of jobs that are offered to you. The better your scores, the better jobs that you'll see in the app.

*You may clock in up to 15 minutes prior to your shift start time. Your pay starts when the shift officially begins.

BEHAVIOR POLICIES
All workers are asked to agree to our Behavior Guidelines & Policies. If you are repeatedly found in violation of the policies while on your shifts, you may be blocked.
